Façinations

About

Façinations

A monthly publication on Web3 art, provenance, and the new art finance.

Façinations covers the work, the structures, and the people behind a small but consequential shift in how art is owned, financed, and circulated. We are particularly interested in artists who treat the chain not as marketing surface but as a structural element of the work itself — and in collectors, curators, and institutions building the new contracts that make this possible.

The publication is founded and edited by Douglas Crosdale and published by Crosdale, Inc. (Brooklyn / London / Tangier). It is also the editorial voice of the Façinations Gallery — a closed-mint registry of forty-seven works on the FXNS contract — though the publication's editorial standards apply equally to artists outside the registry.

Editorial standard

We believe that on-chain art coverage has too often been written for the chain rather than for the art. We try to do the opposite. The questions we keep returning to are old ones — what does this work ask of its viewer; what does it record; what does it remember — and the chain, when it appears in our pages, appears because it changes the answer.

Cadence

New issues land on the 24th of each month. Issues are free for FXNS holders; $12 per quarter for non-holders. We do not run advertising outside our own properties.

Governance

The publication's curatorial slate is, since March 2026, set by a rotating committee of three confirmed by FXNS holder vote. (See DAO Proposal #42.) The editor remains independent.
